Optics

A study regarding the light to know about its Properties and Behavior.

Since the time of Plato scientist has theorized the exact nature of light. In this 20th century also we can only define some of the Properties and Behavior of light by using these 2 theories as described below,-

1) Corpuscular theory / Quantum theory of light (Proposed by Sir Issac Newton):
Light consisted of streams of minute particles that are emitted from a source. (This theory is very useful to measure the light as a Power.)

2) Wave theory (Proposed by Robert Hooke and Christian Huygens):
Light is only a part of Electro-Magnetic spectrum emitting from a source in the form of waves, comparable to the ripples across the pond.

To understand almost all the Phenomenon related to the field of Optometry we will discuss about the wave theory of light.

This discussion will be more useful if we can divide the whole matter into some subjects like,-
Geometrical Optics
Physical Optics
Visual Optic

Geometrical Optics:
Describes how  Light propagates when it is considered as Ray,

Properties of light:

Speed of light:
Like any other Electromagnetic waves light is also travels at about some critical speed of 3 Lacks kilometers/Second.

Wave Length of light:
Wave length is nothing but the distance between one crest to another. Usually wave length is denoted with  l .

Frequency of light:
Frequency can be defined as the velocity of light for a particular wave length.  And frequency is denoted with Hertz.
